Why the job process of today require a pinch of empathy?

The rejection list will always hold high for any job seekers.

As if this wasn’t painful enough, the process of the 21st century job process may wound not only your skills but also your confidence.

For some vague reasons, today’s job process is based on either a 2 minute conversation or an imperfect assignment that is well enough categorized to define a person’s value for the brand.

Funnily, aren’t we the audience that claims, ‘You don’t have to be perfect’ but yet here we are finding perfection from a land of different seashells.

While I would love to express my opinions further on why the job process requires a pinch of empathy, have you noticed why are we even talking about this?

The most justified way of answering this question is the lack of education. You pay millions and tons of money to get yourself a degree, but what have you covered?

What is 2+ 2?

Where is the education that you’ve learnt? Has it been erased already or has it not been necessary to apply since the corporate world is not even close to the education you receive.

Understanding this, how can a brand expect you to learn everything you need to when you yourself are a fresher? Strangely you even need a minimum of a year experience to get started when you have no idea how the outline of your work will be.

Bigger brands who have seen enough applications and applicants, how do you find for perfections?

Is a small grammatical error or a failure to answer a question right enough to understand whether the person can be of value to your business?

I believe that to know the value of a person or rather to find out if the person can contribute to your brand, there are multiple other factors which pay heed such as:

  1. The effort to make the assignment presentable and to hold the readers attention
  2. The mind that answers the questions inquired and the answers which match the thought process
  3. When you observe that the person has only made minor mistakes and that with the right guidance he or she can grow better

Job hirers, every person who applies for a job has a value. The best way to learn that value is to give them the opportunity to speak and illustrate. An experience to identify a person might help you find the ideal audience, but at times out of 10, you will have that 1 percent wrong in choosing the right candidate.

As for the job seekers, your worth isn’t determined on a rejection. A rejection is just bringing you one step closer to the right job at the corner. Be who you are and definitely don’t settle for less.

Empathy makes you feel what the other person goes through and in a time when the business world is growing hugely online, the main focus should be on hiring valuable assets that will make an impact on your brand’s purpose, mission and goals.

Now if you are going to lack this trait, don’t be surprised at how sooner the applicants walk out.

Good Luck!
